Everyone wants to be happy, but it is hard to find happiness if you look outside.
We wander through life, find what we think will make us happy and then we expect that the feeling will remain.
Imagine a vibrant sales floor where the phones and fax machines ring non-stop, sales people jump up, talk, negotiate, serving all the time zones. As someone in your early 20s you may get quickly absorbed by the energy. I was in the UK, it was mid 2006 and I was joining one of the World’s largest B2B information providers, Reed Business Information – Reed Elsevier group.
I was so inspired that I decided to become not only good, but the best on that floor. The journey to the top has lead me through the forest of understanding why and how people make decisions despite their role or upbringing.
Thus, I got deep into NLP, Psychology of Selling, Strategic Selling, Behaviourism and practiced, practiced, practiced. With over 380 clients in hand, international banks and financial institutions, my playground was open for business. I got to understand the patterns, why decision makers are sometimes anxious and cannot decide, how to reach a positive Win-Win when there are numerous of stakeholders etc etc.
If you put a lot of stress on the machine it breaks.
I was tough, but my hard work came not only with financial benefits and recognition but also with exhaustion. I got the badges that I desired, I was the best, I earned much more than my colleagues or even managers, but something was missing. Even though I felt that there is more in the background, I was blinded by the illusions and I did not understand what was happening. I was facing my first serious burn out.
Over the next 20 years I worked in multiple international corporates, practiced mindfulness, stayed at ashram in India, did Wim Hof method, learned and taught Yoga, Meditation, Reiki, you name it! We are intelligent human beings, but even though we know the consequences and what to do, WE DO NOT DO THE CHANGE.
This has brought me on self discovery journey to challenge my own status quo and humbly put more efforts to study the mind and find ways how to make goods habits stick, how to change what is not helping you and go on a path of self realisation.
My journey for happiness has done a full circle. A high achiever turning to mindfulness and assisting people on their path. I am just like you, figuring out which way is up and thus I am happy to share my findings in Corporate Therapy to help you do what you are good at best.
